I co-organised the first SeedySaturday in the UK, held in Kemptown, Brighton in 2002. This has gone on to inspire hundreds of similar Seedy Saturday/Sunday events in the UK. We've always aimed to promote our events around beginning of Feb, Imbolc, the Celtic festival marking the beginning of Spring Feb 1-4th. Seed saving as an action promotes the concept of seed sovereignty, the right of the grower to save, use, exchange their own seed.
